Head of the Department

The Department of Mining Engineering was established in 1956 at college of Engineering, Osmania University, Hyderabad. This was the only institution offering Mining Engineering education in the entire South India.  This was conceived in order to impart hands on field experience and very good exposure of the Mining Industry to the students. Thus the Department of Mining Engineering of College of Engineering, Osmania University, Hyderabad was shifted to Kothagudem in 1978 and christened as Kothagudem School of Mines (KSM)

The institute has produced many pioneers in the mining industry in the past.  For almost three decades the institution served with distinction producing many competent mining engineers, who later occupied highest positions in Mining Industry in India and abroad.  The alumni of the institute are also serving as Professors in the premier Engineering Institutes all over India(IIT’s, NIT’s and other Universities) and Abroad.

In 1994, the Kothagudem School of Mines was taken over by Kakatiya University, Warangal from Osmania University in compliance with the ordinance 3 of 1994 promulgated by the Government of Andhra Pradesh.
